Shanghai Disney planning New Year festivities

15 Jan 2021

Ahead of the new Chinese year, Shanghai Disney Resort is planning to offer special traditional Chinese games and food, all presented with Disney’s magic. This was influenced by hometown Chinese Spring Festival’s traditions.

Guests will be welcomed to Mickey Avenue by the Disney characters in a way we have never seen them before. Characters will wear new festive holiday outfits for the celebrations, designed by renowned Chinese designer Guo Pei.

The celebrations at Shanghai Disney Resort will commence on February 12th, the first day of the Lunar New Year. In addition, a new character will be making her debut at Shanghai Disney, with Clarabelle Cow arriving to the resort in the Year of the Ox.

Furthermore, an interactive photo backdrop will be near Il Paperino for guests to take pictures, commemorating the new year. Families will also be remembered during “Our Families” shows, that will run every night.

Shanghai traditions will be promoted at Disneytown’s Spring Festival Wishing Star Market.

The Resort is looking to attract many families by its promotion of family-centred themes, during which they would be able to celebrate the new year whilst enjoying Disney’s magic.
