A total of 24 projects are due to be undertaken in Shanghai's Qingpu in Q1 this year as the city executes plans to boost development.

With a combined investment of 42.1 billion Yuan ($5.84 billion), the projects are forecasted to bolster the area's development level, speed up its industrial upgrade, and improve citizens' way of life, according to the Qingpu government.

Three projects got underway on Sunday.

These include a biomedicine project involving a 1.3 billion Yuan investment in Qingpu New City, focusing on biomedicine, medical service industries, as well as high-end medical apparatus and instrument manufacturing.

It's expected that the centre will attract major companies in the field of artificial intelligence when the project has been completed.

The entire project is set to take between five and eight years to complete, with the initial phase due to be finalised in June 2025, Shine News reports.

"We decided to land the project in Qingpu due to its supreme location in the core area of the Yangtze River Delta region, and we are confident of developing a benchmark project in the biomedicine field here," stated the general manager assistant of Shanghai Lingang Qingpu Development Co Ltd., Wang Fanchun.

In addition, another project got underway on Sunday in the West Hongqiao area, which includes the construction of hotels, seven office buildings, a park and a shopping centre.

With an investment value of 2.05 billion Yuan, this project will be carried out in two stages.

Furthermore, a housing project was also initiated in Zhujiajiao Town, involving the construction of residential buildings along with fitness and commercial facilities.
