A total of 11 projects amounting to 5.5 billion yuan (US$804 million) have been signed within a parallel session of the Global Investment Promotion Season in Chongming.

The move is part of the district’s efforts to become a sound business environment and look into new ways to bolster growth for industrial development.

Strategic cooperation agreements were signed by the Chongming District government with the municipal sports bureau, Shanghai Electric Power, Shanghai Yidian, China Telecom Shanghai branch, China Mobile Shanghai Co Ltd, China Unicom Shanghai branch and China Tower Shanghai branch, reports Shine News.

The projects predominantly involve energy conservation and environmental protection, smart manufacturing, supply chains and 5G application, amongst others.

"Chongming will make every effort to seize the opportunity and actively promote the diversified transformation of ecological value and the accelerated development of ecological industry," said Li Jun, director of Chongming.

A total of 67 projects within the district were labelled major projects, featuring a total investment of more than 51 billion Yuan. According to the Chongming government, this will boost the momentum of the Chongming World-class Ecological Island construction.

As it stands, Chongming is making the most out of key strategies including rural revitalisation, marine power, green development of the Yangtze River Economic Belt, integrated development of the Yangtze River Delta region and so-called “dual carbon” objectives.

According to the "2+3+n" ecological industry framework, the Chongming district concentrates on the two principal industries, namely modern green agriculture and marine equipment, along with emerging economies such as the digital economy, the floral industry and traditional Chinese medicine.
